DAY 1 - TV STUDIO

I was quite disappointed with how this day went overall. It all started with losing my vegetable glycerin in the morning, which I deemed as essential to my shoot. After realising it was in my pocket, I then got stuck at some traffic lights due to road works, which then caused me to miss my bus. My mum drove behind the bus to help me catch it, so I still made it on time luckily. After arriving to college, I realised there was not yet anyone in the equipment hire room. After finally getting the equipment I had booked, I found out my talent was due a zoom call for work experience for an hour of the 3 hour shoot. I decided I would use this time to shoot my product shots. Unfortunately, the shots I got did not come out well at all and were nowhere near the standard of my experimental research. I suspect this is due to the fact I was using LED lights as opposed to the softboxes I have at home. I decided I would do the product shots the same way I did my experimental research and started to just focus on the greenscreen shots. I believe these came out okay, however there were quite a few creases in the curtain. I was planning on shooting the product shots at home the same day, however once I got home, I discovered that my product had got wet in my back. This deemed it useless and I now have to wait until I can print off a new one.
DAY 2 - GYM
Unfortunately, the second day didn't exactly go to plan either. After well over a month of trying to get the college gym booked, I finally managed it; the catch was that I only had 1 hour. I was quite disappointed with this because 1 hour was nowhere near enough time. Sadly, I had no other option and just had to try my best. I arrived in college at 8:30am to go and collect the equipment I had booked. My talent arrived soon after and we walked down to the gym so we would be there just before 9:00am (the time we had booked). I wasn't too surprised at this point to discover there was no one there. I tried to get hold of my teacher, who then waited with us and desperately tried to contact the person that owns the gym. He couldn't get hold of her and time was ticking, so he got a porter with a master key that still couldn't unlock it. Eventually after getting someone else, it was finally unlocked, however, about half of our time was gone. With now only half an hour to shoot, there was no time to waste. Due to the short time frame I had, we did not capture any behind the scenes from this shoot. I thought the shots from the shoot turned out okay all things considered. I couldn't use my smoke machine for an atmospheric haze because there were an obscene amount of smoke detectors in the gym. I ended up using my Sony A6400 instead in the end because I am proficient with it.
DAY 3 - PRODUCT SHOTS AT HOME
This was the only day I actually think went well. I was planning on shooting the product shots in the TV studio but as I said above, that didn't work out. After reprinting the label, I could finally redo the product shots and they looked a lot better this time. I used a variety of techniques and shot far more footage than I needed, so I could play around in the edit. I used glass so that a reflection was visible and a black background to create an infinite black look. I used a lazy susan for some of the spinning shots and a smoke machine for some atmosphere. In the final shots, I applied vegetable glycerin to the product. I used different combinations of all of these techniques. There were two shots I attempted that didn't go to plan, one was a Hitchcock push-pull effect on the product, which I really needed a dolly for. The other was a shot of the tub bursting open. I attached some string to the lid and got my girlfriend to pull it, so it would look like the lid had exploded off. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get it to look authentic. Overall was quite pleased with how this day went.
