MATT HENDRY
Primary Research
For my primary research, I conducted 2 market research surveys and one focus group; I have also spoken to a lot of friends and family informally about what they think of the marketing of lots of products. The common consensus is that minimalist branding looks more professional and that a well lit product shot goes a long way for increasing production value. The first was focused on the product we will be releasing and the supplement industry as a whole. We wanted to find out exactly how many people would be interested in our product and what they think of our competitors. It also allowed us to see the sorts of people we have on social media in order to decide if advertising on our social media is a good option.

The second survey was more focused on the marketing and the video advertisement side of the project. We still needed to ask questions about what they thought of similar products to get an idea of the sort of person that they are and whether or not they're in our target market. If they're not in our target market then, for the most part, their answers about advertising and media is not valued as highly as people that workout and take preworkout, for example.

The focus group was created by getting a group of my friends together to workout and test our product. They gave us feedback on the product. These were things such as main effects and side effects reported. While they were there we also discussed marketing. We asked them what they thought of the advertising of certain brands. It appears that simplicity seemed to be a trend with companies such as: MyProtein and Bulk Powders (now rebranded as Bulk, in order to be even more minimal), were very popular.
