Previous Work

As referenced in my pitch video, this video runs over how I made a Monster Energy advert with absolutely no budget, also using a cloth as a background. I am referencing it here to show my previous experience doing adverts of this nature.

What I Will Do Differently Next Time

Next time, I will make sure I shoot the video at night so that there is no external light. This will allow me complete control of the lighting during the shoot.

I will also get a more solid back drop as it was not dark enough and had a lot of creases which can be seen in the final image. This is of course an easy fix when shooting a photo because you can mask it out, however when shooting a video this will lead to a lot of unnecessary rotoscoping. The Pre-workout itself has quite dark packaging, therefore it is quite hard to separate from the background when colour grading.

The other issue I ran into was the edge of the glass sheet, which I used for the reflection, being visible on camera. I am not yet sure how I will solve this in the final video. I could potentially tape up the edge with black electrical tape but I have not yet tested this.

I will spend longer in the edit as the final edit was rushed to be perfectly honest. This will allow me to refine my cuts and add some more sound design, much like my  Monster Energy advert.

Finally, I will add more interesting shots, such as: a spinning shot, some shots of the powder and someone shaking a shaker. I believe I can creates some seamless transitions between these shots to make it really engaging for the viewer. If I do a storyboard and fully plan for the edit, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Going into this video, I didn't have much of a plan and simply shot the product while it was static, as I was tight for time. I could even add some stop motion animation to break things up a little.
